There can be many reasons why people practice metal detecting. To some people, it is a serious occupation as they search for precious metals or archaeological materials. But most who take up metal detecting do it just because it is fun, and it is especially rewarding when parents do this with their children. It is truly a family activity that can involve every member. The Bounty Hunter QD2GWP Metal Detector will enable anyone to jump right into metal detecting with a machine that is low enough in price to make it easily affordable, while being sophisticated enough to distinguish between metals.

Probably one of the most disappointing aspects of metal detecting is detecting nothing but rusty nails and other trash. Early metal detectors were non-discriminatory, but this Bounty Hunter QD2GWP can let the operator distinguish between junk and such objects as old coins and buried jewelry. The Bounty Hunter can reach down 3 feet into the soil to search for metallic objects, and to distinguish between different types of metals.

When using the Bounty Hunter, the operator will be notified with either an audible sound or a visual signal, depending upon preference. Identification of buried objects is made all the easier since the LCD display will not only show what size of coin is within 8 of the surface, but also the size and shape. This is a very convenient feature for eliminating junk from the search.

As many people enjoy using a metal detector at the beach, the Bounty Hunter Metal Detector has a waterproof coil that is fully submersible. This detector (and most others) will give more reliable detection readings when used over dry sand, however, as the high sodium content of wet sand can give a false reading.

Weighing only 6 pounds, the Bounty Hunter QD2GWP will not cause any strain physically, either, allowing the user a longer time searching for metals before fatiguing. This metal detector is powered by a pair of 9 volt batteries. This machine is sturdily made, so letting children use it is will generally offer no harm to the unit.

Using a metal detector in a more urban area, or even in a busy suburb can be difficult because of the background noise. It is sometimes possible for an audio alert to go unnoticed, and if the user is concentrating on where they are putting their feet, the visual clue might also be missed. While not included with the Bounty Hunter QD2GWP itself, the parent company also has a set of earphones available for use with this metal detector. These are especially useful in noisy situations, but can be used anywhere that focused attention is desired.

The Bounty Hunter is considered to be a mid-priced metal detector and usually costs under $175.00. This metal detector does come with a 5 year guarantee, however, which will assure the owner of years of worry free metal detection. A carrying bag is included with the Bounty Hunter as well. Those interested in the Bounty Hunter Metal Detector Headphone can expect to pay approximately another $35.00 for this accessory.
