Cuisinart Brew Central 14-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, DCC-2600 Series

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

If you're looking for a simple but versatile coffeemaker that makes excellent coffee, I would highly recommend the Cuisinart Brew Central. I have owned mine for almost a year and have found it to be a very reliable coffeemaker. Once I learned the few bells and whistles involved, spelled out nicely in the operating manual, I found it to be quite easy to operate and to maintain. The Brew Central takes up a moderate amount of counter space, but its design is attractive. Like other models I have seen, its "stainless steel" trim is really plastic, but it is, nevertheless,a very sturdy machine. One of the best features of this coffeemaker is its ability to make as little as a cup or two of coffee at a time, or as much as 14 cups, all with consistently good quality. Other handy features include: brew pause(which really works; the flow of coffee stop immediately when you remove the carafe, so you don't have to wait for the brewing cycle to be complete before you pour your first cup of coffee), a water level indicator, a permanent water filter (or you can insert a paper one, if you prefer), adjustable temperature settings, and a programmable clock. It's nice to be able to start my coffee brewing before I even get out of bed. Most importantly: I've never had a cup of coffee from the Brew Central that was less than ideal. If I have to quibble, I would probably make the coffeemaker a bit smaller. Also, I have to move the Brew Central out further on the counter in order to put in the water, as the reservoir cover doesn't clear my top cabinet -- a very minor design flaw.
All in all, the Cuisinart Bew Central is a very welcome addition to my kitchen.
