I like my old friend from high school and want to keep up with her on FB but every other one is a selfie.
We're not teenagers, far from it. I don't want to unfollow but getting close.
Any insight into why a grown adult would do that ? She's not making money off it like Kardashians.

Because some people enjoy taking and posting them?

I really don't think there's any deeper meaning than that for most people.

If you don't like it, hide her stuff or delete her.

It's not hard. There's no deeper meaning or ulterior motive.

Some people just like taking pictures.

Shouldn't be that big a deal.

Ask her, block her or both. She is the only one who knows her motivation and random strangers would have no idea to even give an uninformed guess.

Either bc she think she looks good or she wants people to tell her. She also might be whatever the FB alternative of subtweeting is. Those pictures are either for an ex or someone she's into.
Bottom line is it's her fb, she can do what she wants so either unfollow or get over it.

Because she wants to? Is there a need to justify it to others when it's her page? Nope.

Frankly, I do find people who are constantly posting selfies (especially if they're over--let's say--30) to be compensating for something. An occasional selfie, a selfie taken at a landmark or with friends is normal and expected. A selfie every day, for no particular reason? Weird. But, it's their Facebook page, nothing you can do about it. Not that you can't form opinions about it, but that's where it ends.

whatever the reason, just unfollow your friend and go over to your friend's page if you want to see if there is anything interesting . Friend won't know.

OP - the general consensus is that while you can't help but wonder about your friend's motivations, most folks you ask won't admit they'd find it weird themselves but their official response will be "no one knows but them" and MYOB because they can do whatever they want.

The same could be said for any psychological question since ESP has been mostly disproven (depending on who you ask). So while technically correct, it doesn't feel especially helpful, especially when psychology is all about posing hypotheses and then hopefully testing them out - you know, figuring out those hidden bases and motivations for behavior.

Do an experiment with her by posting about 10 selfies today and see what her reaction is? Could be interesting...especially if she asks what's up with you!

Unfollow. There are so many people on my friends list whose posts I never see and I'm sure they don't follow me either. lol
