The world seems to be made of two kinds of people. Door slammers, and people who try to mitigate noise in their environment. Holding the knob until the door is to, and then releasing the latch. Walking with silent footfalls, instead of clip-clop. Putting dishes in the sink without clatter. Going years at a time without blowing the car horn.

Which type are you?

People always say I'm "sneaky"... at 6'4" I've just learned to be gentle on my joints (they hurt all on their own without my help), and gentle with "stuff" because I can easily break it if careless. I also like stuff to last, even if it's carp stuff to begin with, keeping it from breaking means not having to replace it.

I have nothing personal again doors, in general. But if I feel a door needs to be slammed, I'll slam it.

I'm not a door slammer, but I make noise. I'm a really fast-paced person, so doing things quietly means I have to slow down, which takes an enormous effort for me, even putting down dishes or closing the copier lid quietly at work. Sometimes I can slow down, but mostly, I make noise.

I assume it seems like I'm angry or just very rough, but I'm neither at the moment. I just do everything fast and don't slow down to study or even be aware of the motion that I'm doing.

I generally do things quietly, but not going out of my way to walk on toes or slow down to be extra quiet.
To slam door, drawers, copy machine lid, talk loud or make other unnecessary noise one uses more energy, not to mention it sounds... rude, projects anger, annoys others and shows bad manners.

When you feel that door needs to be slammed? Because they stick and are difficult to close otherwise?

I get accused of sneaking up behind people all of the time, lol. I have been told that I am a silent walker which is odd since I wear shoes that have heels that can make noise.

I don't think I've ever slammed a door in my life Slamming a door when I was growing up was a big no in my house and besides that, it's irritating hearing the door slam when it is one that easily closes.

My next door neighbors slam their doors (car and townhouse) every time they close them. It's amazing that none of their doors have broken hinges yet.

I tend to be quiet. Work as a biologist, photographer, and aviary bird keeper tends to reinforce that. You don't observe your target species successfully by crashing around. However, if I decide a door deserves to be slammed I can do so with the best of them. Just don't do it in a ramshackle historic house. You'll have to glue the doorframe together afterwards. Don't ask.

I remember being a kid and my mom constantly telling me to stop stomping around like an elephant! ...but that's probably because I was a girl...
