I am a big fan of crime reality TV shows, and many of them involve armed hostages barricading themselves with their victims. Most of the time these are criminals that have already done enough damage, and taking hostages may just be a desperate attempt to delay the inevitable. But what I'm interested from knowing is the reasons why armed hostage takers decide to commit their actions, whether they have already committed a crime or not. A lot of the times they also have empathy for their victims and are crying about how much they have screwed up, while pointing a gun to their head. Are they afraid of walking out of the building and being taken out and the victim provides their only sense of comfort? Because unless their life is already over, taking hostages only worsens their fate and lengthens their prison sentence by quite a bit. Serious replies only, please.
Maybe they figure that by taking hostages the media will give them the time they want to say what they want......because without them they'd never get their say.
It was in this forum first, Ignoramus. No one was answering, so I posted it again in the other forum.
You are totally mystified why a criminal cornered by cops would take a hostage and you call me an ignoramus.
