Wondering if anyone has one and uses it to cruise the canals or bay? Not sure they would be a good idea here, but never know?
Thanks

I've only seen one while boating around here, it was leaving Fisherman's Village. I think they are a cool idea if you don't mind a top speed of 6-8mph (which is where I normally cruise on my pontoon anyway). They are pretty pricey for what you get in my opinion. I thought about building my own out of a hard top pontoon and a few big solar panels on the roof .

You can rent them in Venice: Duffy Electric Boat Rentals

I've seen one sitting on a trailer, I think on Pellam Ave. Haven't noticed if it's still there.

You can rent one in Venice at Crow's Nest Marina (they also have a well known restaurant).

Here's a link to the web site for the boat rentals

one comes by our house from time to time. VERY slow and quiet. Not my cup of tea but cool to say the least. Again, sloooooow. I'm thinking 6 to 8 is with a tailwind and current in your favor.
To each their own though!
Make sure you have a bimini as you will not get a breeze from the speed.

they say about 6 mph and battery lasting about 7 hrs. would be cool to cruise the canals, the quiet is the fun part.
I will have to go out and drive the car at 6 mph and see how it feels. No breeze, that's funny!!!

You can buy a nice bay boat and do that with the electric trolling motor. Then if you need more breeze crank up the big 225 HP outboard and have yourself a 45 mph Gale!

6mph is near the max you can go in the canals anyway as they are no wake zones, but it doesn't take a $30k boat to do that! I've had a few skiffs down here with just a 55lb trolling motor and they'd do about 5mph for 2 hours on just one Walmart deep cycle battery. With a few batteries you could cruise all day, but sooner or later your going to get bored of the canals.

I do agree, the quietness does make it much more fun. However, the new 4 strokes are so quiet you barely know they are running at those speeds. I can take 14 people on my toon with the 4 stroke and cruise at 6mph all day long on less than a gallon of gas, less than the electric cost of charging back up a bank of batteries.
