We have seen some nice houses in this subdivision and like the location, but would probably prefer a subdivision with a pool. If you are not interested in joining Prestonwood (we are not) what would our options be for a pool? Also, any feedback comparing Georgetown at Preston to Wellsley, Weatherstone or West Park as far as being kid friendly would be appreciated. Thanks!
Oh boy, you sound like me about 3 months ago! We moved here a year ago and lived in Wellslley, and really loved it, although the houses (some) are in need of upkeep. We loved the schools and the neighborhood, but could not find a house big enough (4 kids) as most of the homes are 2200 - 2800 sq ft. If I had to pick of the 3 you mentioned I would definately go with Wellsley, great neighborhood.
We looked at Georgetown at Preston but the pool was huge for our family and we didn't feel like joining a community swim club such as Morrisville or the YMCA. I really wanted my kids to be able to do what they did in Wellsley and that was to get on their bikes and ride to the pool to meet friends. Georgetown at Preston homes are newer and probably need less work though. Although a home in Wellsley on Barnes Spring just popped up today...

Morrisville Fitness & Aquatic Center that is operated by the Town of Morrisville (public pool/fitness center) is fairly close (on Morrisville Parkway adjacent to Preston); it's closed right now for repairs, but their website says that they target reopening in April.

I agree that Wellsley is a really beautiful neighborhood.
Yes, we ended up in Preston Village, but really would have stayed in Wellsley if we could have found a home that fit my family. Also, we were hoping to find a house with fiber cement and less repairs, alot of Wellsley homes are as I mentioned early are in need of some fix-ups.
We are happy with Preston Village and it has the pool which is a plus!

But isn't the pool in Preston Village part of the Prestonwood CC? I didn't think you could use it unless you're a club member.

If you are not going to join the club, I would go for one of the other neighborhoods you mentioned. Wellsley, Weatherstone or WestPark. I think you will find them to be more family friendly and you willl feel more like you're part of a community. Wellsley and WestPark have walking trails. They all have pools and tennis courts. Playgrounds too. There is a little playground at Georgetown but that's it really.
My opinion is if you live in Preston you need to join the club except for Preston Village because they have the pool now, huge playground, circle on the green, Green Hope and a walk to Cary Tennis Center. You will not find this across the street in Preston.
we have chosen Preston Village as our number 1 neighborhood to buy in for the above reasons - we are not into the country club scene and very much wanted the neighborhood amenities for our family. If we can find the right house in there we will be very happy I think ..
