Where have you stayed and really enjoyed at the coast? Drive from Raleigh and stay at a beach front hotel. Thanks for any suggestions.

Couple? Kids? What kind of experience are you looking for? Active? Quiet?

Hampton Inn between Duck & Corolla on the northern OBX...about a 3 - 3.5 hour drive from Raleigh. It offers a very different experience and beach setting than the places at Wrightsville (both also good options), and is definitely worth the extra hour if you like a more remote beach setting.

This past weekend we stayed at the Hampton Inn in Wilmington. It was a 5 min drive to the beach, it included breakfast and we only paid 100.00 per night + tax. Very clean, very friendly hotel. I am a hotel snob and I was impressed.

I like staying at the Courtyard by Marriott at Carolina Beach.... every room has a balcony overlooking pool, beach and ocean. Very relaxing. Great food/bars within walking distance....

my preference is the Hilton on the Riverfront at Wilmington. Great location with views down the Cape Fear River and the Battleship, and minutes from all the bars, restaurants and shops in Downtown Wilmington. Easy access within 15 minutes to all the beaches so spend a day at Wrightsville beach followed by the next days at Carolina and Kure beaches respectively
