I use them all the time. If you do a search for 80% discount for restaurant.com you get a code before purchasing. (make sure it's the right date) You type the code in and get 80% off the gift certificate.

I used a couple of $3 for $25 certificates last week -- no problem at all. Just remember to tip the server on the full price

That is true, but make sure they don't already add it in. I've had that happen before. Otherwise, the are a great deal.

I haven't purchased these in several years because I got tired of them not being accepted. I tried to use one in Raleigh at Mayflower on Capital Blvd and was really embarressed when the server said very loudly that these are FAKE! They wouldn't take it. Also had an issue at a seafood restaurant in Smithfield and an italian cafe in Clayton. Both of those are closed now. They sound like a good deal but I had 3 bad experiences and no good ones to off set the bad ones.

I use them often at Lemongrass and The Big Easy. Buy them when they're on sale for $3 each (about once a month).

Vicki,

I buy them for a couple of my favorite restaurants each month when they go deeply discounted and I love it! I've never had a problem. I even let once lapse past the expiration date and they renewed it for me.

What excuse do they give for not accepting the certificates?
