Yeah, but how much productivity has been lost in the state of North Carolina as people struggled to digest 1 pound hot dogs, 5 pound gummy bears, Krispy Kreme burgers, deep fried Twinkies ... ?

I also wonder if the state actually makes money off of the fair... you have to factor in all the cost like extra state police, energy, advertising, garbage, and the list goes on.... and then of course we can look at CHTransplant idea about lost productivity and lost days of learning when kids skip school to go to the fair.

I personally don't think the fair needs to be a money maker for the state... but I think that headline is only the tip of the iceberg.

Oh and of course there is the extra cost to our state's health care system if one eats too much of that fair food.
