Just wondering if anyone can tell me anything about the Scarlet Oak neighborhood in Chapel Hill. I just saw a listing from there and the house looks very nice. My questions would be - is this a family oriented neighborhood? (as opposed to retiree), good location? good builders? good schools?

any info would be appreciated! oh, and if you know of any other nice neighborhoods in Chapel Hill - looking to go no higher than upper 400,000's.
thanks!

Don't know the specific subdivision, but know the area. That part of Chatham county is about 10 min to UNC, 25 min to Durham, 30 min+ to RTP and beyond. Chatham county school district, don't know much about the schools there but there is a ton of development going in that area. Has good proximity to Chapel Hill but much more house and land for your money than you'll get in Orange County.

Personally, for that price range, you can get a nice home in an established neighborhood in Chapel Hill within walking distance to schools and parks. You can also get homes on big lots in nice neighborhoods north of chapel hill off of Whitfield Rd (still in chapel hill school district). If we hadn't bought our home back in February, we'd have been sorely tempted to overstretch our budget on some of the houses in the $450K range on the market right now in this area. There's one with 2 acres of land, neighborhood surrounded by Duke forest, swimming pool in the backyard. All depends on what your looking for, if new construction is want interests you these neighborhoods probably aren't for you, but
