My husband got a traffic ticket for going 63 in a 45. My husband must appear in court. He has to appear at the courthouse in Louisburg. We would like to find a good lawyer who can represent him. We are looking for someone who is affordable or takes payments. Can anyone recommend a lawyer??

Can't recommend anyone, but you'll get about a hundred letters from lawyers modestly recommending themselves.
I get more than my share of speeding tickets and normally handle it myself. It's really easy, and you can almost always get it reduced to less than ten over or improper equipment.
The last ticket I got required me to get a lawyer. The officer set my court date for a time when I was going to be out of town (if I had remembered at the time he probably would have given me a different date) .

Out of all the letters I got, I picked the one that was closest to the right courthouse. IMO this isnt a complicated or crucial decision. Pick one,pay your costs, and go about your business.

How did you get it reduced to imporoper equipment? What do you have to say to get them to consider that?

Ahh! Yes, that was what the lawyer did for me. I've only gotten it lowered myself.
I reread what I posted earlier and see that I wasn't at all.clear on that.

However, just ask if they'll do it. If you don't get a response you like from the solicitor(DA) you can still probably get a postponement and then get a lawyer.

country apple - CYB is right, you'll be receiving direct advertisements from Franklin County traffic ticket defense attorneys.

The easiest way to hire a lawyer is to pick one from the list of letters. You can also call around to criminal defense attorneys in Franklin County and you'll probably find someone to handle your ticket. The lawyer will run your husbands driving record, and seek an outcome that will not increase his auto insurance premiums or affect his driver's license. As CYB pointed out, fighting a traffic ticket isn't terribly difficult, and is something you can probably do on your own if you have time and want to avoid paying an attorney's fee.

The average fee for an attorney is $100-$300 (though you may find some cheaper.

Boyd Sturges, attorney at law, is a lifelong friend I've known since kindergarten. His office is in Louisburg. He comes from an old well connected family...His grandfather was once the president of Coca Cola and the rest of 'em are movie producers in Hollywood.

Judge John Davis was also in our kindergarten class, and his mother was our "den mother". His family's home is on "Green Hill Place" in Louisburg, where 1st meeting of what would become the Methodist Church/Religion was held. John's father, Charles M. Davis, served a term as head of the NCBar.

Louisburg ain't much to look at, but it defintely has plenty of distinguished citizens and lots of old money.

I got one 4ish years ago - and just picked from the ads that I received in the mail. $250 -300 later I was on my way with only an improper equipment charge. It was super easy to deal with, and the attorney fee was more than worth it in my opinion.
