The CHCCS website says K registration starts Feb 1 this year for next September, and they recommend registering early. Does anyone know why this is? is there a problem with limited spaces? Do they assign teachers based on registrations, and will they move kids out of their neighborhood school for any reason?

I'm not trying to be *that* parent, but we have a lease until July 31 and there's a possibility that we might move (within CH) then. I'm worried that if we register and then move, we might wind up assigned to a school in a different neighborhood. Does anyone know how this works? would they move our registration along with our address, or should we wait until we know what's happening (by April or so) before completing the process?

Thanks for any info.

i would wait until you know whats happening. theres no need to register early, other than schools want to get an idea of how many kids theyre going to have.

I'd call Lincoln Center (CHCCS admin office) and talk to them about it. I've found them to be very helpful.

Thank you! I'll call and check, but plan on registering a little bit later when we know what's up.

Please don't be 'that' parent. You are correct about the need to know K enrollment ASAP in order to determine classroom size and teacher assignments.

They would much rather put you on one list now and switch you later than to not have you on any list at all.

I would assume that if they encourage you to register early, it is for a reason!
