I am even surprised that it was being considered to be switched as traditional. With MPE as traditional, that really did not leave any place for parents to send their kids to any other YR closeby. Anyway, the board voted to keep it YR...

The board now plans to meet from noon to 1:30 p.m. instead of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday to resume work on the reassignment plan. School board chairman Ron Margiotta says he'll bring up converting Highcroft Drive Elementary, Salem Elementary and Salem Middle back to a traditional calendar.

I was at the meeting today. Margiotta was all for converting Highcroft to traditional. He cited some school system in Nevada had saved a lot of money by switching from year round to traditional. But the school board adviser - didnt catch his name had a contradicting view.
But the board voted with Ms Goldman breaking ranks again to let it remain as year round for now. They plan to have public hearings to decide for 2012-20113
Salem remains as it is as well.

I have been sitting here DYING to know what happened today b/c I couldn't be there. Did they discuss Carpenter Village? What did they say?

The pro year round parents sent a lot of emails with justification as to why HDE should remain YR, but it was almost like Margiotta did not read any or the petition that was handed in during the first meeting. He had all these facts that were wrong like how HDE could have more capacity as a traditional - but then, there are classes currently being housed in trailers because there is no room in the actual building.
