We are looking for a secluded hotel/resort for a relaxing long weekend. Just a place to hang-out, read a book, long walks/hike, and good restaurant(s). Big enough to have a variety of amenities, but not big enough for large conventions/groups. Comfortable, but not overly fancy.

Max. 3 hour drive from Triangle, with rates no higher than mid-$200.00.

Thanks for suggestions.

If you are looking for something soon, try anywhere on the Outer Banks, Beaufort, or Eastern Bougue Bogue Banks (Atlantic Beach, Pine Knoll Shores, Salter Path, Indian Beach). Beaches are still beautiful and area is dead out side of tourist season.

I would suggest the Hilton Hotel at Wilmington. The hotel is 2 hours drive from the Triangle in a great location on the Cape Fear River front and you are minutes away from the bars and restaurants of Downtown Wilmington. Good ammenities in the hotel and walks around a historic town, or the beaches if you prefer, which are a short drive away.

Drive up to the mountains. Look at weekend cabins in Todd. Short drive - great location.
