Local theatres do rent out their costumes sometimes--call Raleigh Little Theatre at 821-4579 and ask for Vicki. I know they use fat suits there in their annual "Cinderella" production. I can't promise that they will rent to "just anybody" but I know they rent/lend to other theatres sometimes, so if this is for a skit, you never know.
Otherwise, go to a thrift store and find a large outfit, then stuff it with blankets or similar.
There is also a little costume shop on Glenwood Ave in North Raleigh called Hughie & Louie's that might have something for purchase or rental.
