I think the pharmacy thing is only valid on new or transferred prescriptions.

I just found out today I can use my Kroger Plus card to get 10 cents off per gallon at shell stations here in Raleigh (and I assume the rest of the Triangle area too). I just enter my Kroger Plus Card # at the pump and it resets the price per gallon 10 cents lower. Then I pump my gas and get charged the lower per gallon rate. In doing so they deduct 100 points from the Kroger card. I've had my card for ages so I have about 1 trillion points so no worries about running out (the balance on your Kroger Plus card is printed on your receipt when you make a purchase at Kroger).

For more details on the Kroger/Shell program visit the following website: Kroger - In Store - Save on Fuel (http://www.kroger.com/in_store/fuel/Pages/north_carolina.aspx - broken link)

"There is a limit of 100 Points that can be redeemed in a single fuel fill-up. When you redeem 100 points you will receive 10¢ off per gallon on your fuel purchase at participating Shell stations. Fuel discounts are limited to 35 gallons."
.Lowe's foods in Wake Forest now offers the shop, earn, save on gas thing as well.

Another strategy is to buy gift cards at Kroger. Every $50 gift card is worth $0.10/gallon. If I've got to buy something at Home Depot, for example, I go to Kroger and buy a Home Depot gift card and get 5% back on my Chase rewards card for making a purchase at a grocery store plus another 3.6% back (18 gallon tank) on the gas. It's a pretty good deal.

Nope, not true. It goes for EVERY prescription. Those really do help bump things up for me since Kroger isn't my primary store.
