I need to find a new dentist that is in-network and was hoping to get opinions on the options I have:
  • Renaissance Family Dentistry
  • DentalWorks (on Fayetteville Road)
  • Kitt Creek Family Dentistry
  • Julian Haywood, DDS
  • Lane and Associates (off Miami Blvd)
  • Carolina Dental Associates
  • University Dental Associates
  • Triangle Family Dentistry
Thanks in advance!

I have heard good things about Lane and Associates, but don't go there personally... I still drive to Raleigh for my dentist! Hope this helps!

Which dental plan do you have?

Sunrise Dental has a relatively new office in SW Durham. If Sunrise Dental is in your network, their location may show up as either Chapel Hill or Raleigh, which are two of their other locations. In any event, if Sunrise Dental IS in your network, I highly recommend them!

My plan is Guardian Dental, DentalGuard Preferred Network. Sunrise wasn't listed as an in-network provider, unfortunately...

Stay away from University Dental unless you like having "the dentist of the day". I had a good dentist there, but he didn't stay long. Sometimes I would go there and they would have a temporary fill in dentist on duty for that day.... no consistency!

The only afternoon dental hygienist they had quit, and they never replaced her, so I could no longer schedule afternoon appointments for teeth cleanings.

I also had billing error issues with them and it was very difficult to correct because the billing was done in Atlanta. The local office would tell you to call Atlanta. If you called Atlanta, they would say the coding is done by the local office, so I was caught in a game of catch 22 between the local office and Atlanta.

While sitting in the waiting room, the office staff was calling insurance companies to verify patient benefit eligibility using the speaker phone that would repeat the patient names and social security numbers within earshot of the waiting room. I could have sat there in the waiting room with pen and paper and had complete access to personal information and social security numbers.

I finally had enough and switched providers.

Also be careful regarding DentalWorks. I haven't used them myself, but do your research before selecting them as your dental provider.

I go to Triangle Family Dentistry in Morrisiville and LOVE them. I see Dr. Baky and my teenaged daughter sees the new female dentist, who is also wonderful. At Halloween they do a candy buy back that let me to make an appointment and I've been going ever since

I didn't care for Lane Assoc except for Dr. Aziz but I think he's at the Wake Forest Rd location. It seems to me they put more money into decor and TVs, and the patients end up paying for them! They always charged more than my dental insurance was willing to cover. I have certainly not had that problem with my current dentist (who you didn't list, so I won't plug)
