I will not be repetative...read my other posts.
Will be traveling to NC with my wife, 14 year old son and 11 year old daughter for 5 days this summer. Trying to incorporate looking for some areas, not specifically homes per say, but locations for a possible relocation. Renting is out of the equation...cannot give up a job. Need help on an itinerary for 3 full days to get a "feel". I do understand it is not enough time, but its all I have. To start, looking for "possible" areas in Wake Forest, Raleigh and maybe Cary. Would like to visit the city of Raleigh. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks all.
Yes Meh...sorry I did not elaborate. I am retired from the NYPD and continue to work full time. I cannot take any extended leave from my present job, however, if we did decide to relocate, I can get a job in Raleigh. I do not want to give up my present job, only to find NC is not for my family. Thanks

How are you so certain of this?

Why are you looking into moving if you aren't even sure you'll like it?
NC is not a "dumping ground" for people trying to get out of where they are--there are lots of places that are "not NY" if that is your goal. You should come here because you specifically want to be HERE, not because you want to get out of somewhere else.

So, if you visit and like it, you'll buy a house and relocate?
Francious...If you are looking to buy a car, wouldn't you see and drive it before the purchase? I guess its the same with relocating...right? I need to feel it and see it. To answer the other question posted by Meh...yes. I am looking for advice here. Thanks
If you come, you like it, you find a job. Why NOT rent until you get a better feel for the area? Then you'll know where you'd like to live, commute times, etc.
