Rumor mill running around Wake Forest & Wakefield about the talks between McConnell golf and TPC, with loss of the Rex Open potentially on the line and members scratching their heads about what lies ahead. Wakefield is not immune to the abundance of foreclosures driving prices down...down...down....with the club changing hands, is this a good thing for the community, for the members and the area? That area of town appears to be growing, but this week I've heard mixed feedback at the water cooler-- anyone have any insight or comments about potential outcomes? Does this make other neighborhoods more enticing, or will the wakefield folks experience the Mccconnell effect, i.e. better facilities, appreciation after Mcconnell puts its stamp on the club.....just curious what you all think.

Nice thread. I have been watching home prices in Wakefield for a few months now. There are some real bargains in the price range which would put your mortgage above conforming loan limits. I can't convince my wife to move out there though.

If McConnell does take over the club, one thing is for certain, the course conditions will improve immensely.

If McConnell golf takes over, the implication to the course would remain the same (meaning the course would remain private???) Or would the course be public? I think the grouped golf courses are great. In Charlotte they have the carolina golf trail with several golf courses included in it. Variety in golf is a good thing if you have the option to "play" all the courses.
