Please help!!!! My husband needs an endocrinologist for his thyroid, which is starting to fail. We live in Durham, he works in Cary. He prefers a male doctor if at all possible and would go anywhere within Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, Raleigh. Your recommendations would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!!

I go to Dr. Stall at Raleigh Endocrine Associates - I like him, he's straightforward. I believe that they're now located near Blue Ridge Rd (they moved recently - need to get in for an appt soon, myself!).

I have heard wonderful things about Shawnee Weir, also at Raleigh Endocrine. Their offices have moved; they are across the street from Rex Hospital.

The office is pretty nice, with a lab for prompt labwork and results. Good luck!

There is another post on this (if you read the latest posts..)... here's what I said to that one:

I've been going to Carolina Endocrine in Raleigh for the past couple years.... They are fantastic there.

I've seen other endocrinologists in the triangle and their service is not on par, in comparision to Carolina Endocrine. The staff is very nice, personable, and friendly. The doctors really go above and beyond as well. I've always felt like a person when I go there --and not just some other patient that they are looking to get out the door.

Here's their website:

Carolina Endocrine

Hope that helps out a little!

Just adding my two cents: My wife has a thyroid problem. Her "numbers" were normal, but her auto-antibodies were high. They started her on synthroid, and she feels great, much better. Alot of doctors don't test for the auto-antibodies, so the thyroid can appear to be working fine. There is a history of autoimmune in her family, which is why they tested her. But we don't live in the area yet, so I don't have any names for you.

I see Dr.Weir and she is great! She listens, and is polite.
