OK, so we're in the market for a new house and the home inspector (realtor-recommended) that inspected this house was so awful that they actually refunded our money. They found things like broken switch plates but missed the big expensive things that a good inspector should have caught.
This is my fourth house, and the previous inspectors (out-of-state) were excellent.

Can anyone recommend someone who they really felt knew what he or she was doing? We've had a hard time finding good repair people here, too. We had someone who was so great, but he had heart issues and had to retire. It's not like we have crazy expectations, just that someone does what they agree to do.

My personal favorite was when a guy from Handyman Connection painted our kitchen cabinets with a paint gun and actually painted right over the windows and left paint spray all over the kitchen floor. Hmmmmm.....

I know there are smart, professional people out there, they're just hard to find!

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Liz

sacredgrooves (This is his screen name)
I haven't used him myself, however I found him very knowledgeable, objective, and helpful. I am going to use him when I buy a home. It is a family operated business spanning 3 generations (very impressive)

I have recently used Housemaster, and you can look them up online and there is a franchise in the raleigh area. Garry was the inspector, and he owns the franchise. He inspected the house for about 4 hours, was incredibly thorough, and had some very good follow up.

I would recommend him.

I appreciate the praise John! If you are interested in using us, feel free to PM me and I will gladly tell you all about our company, and what we bring to the table that most inspectors simply cannot match.

(I hope that doesnt break any advertising rules!)

I used Bill DELAMAR (note spelling) as well when we built our home in Highcroft. He did both the pre-drywall inspection and the pre-closing inspection. Very thorough.

Bill is a good guy and inspector. He has been around about as long as us (20 plus years). If we were booked up I would recommend him without hesitation.

Default Glad

Glad you started this thread, Liz. My wife and I are doing our lot walk tomorrow, and construction will start soon. We will need an inspector along the way.

Good luck with yours!

Mike
