You'll want to ask for the hospital's policy on Hepatitis B shots for newborns. My ds was given one at Duke (2005) without my permission and I was highly upset that they didn't ask me. They did it at the same time they did his heel stick test.
Yes, they will want to do the Hep B shot, at Duke anyway. My son had to get some extra testing done after birth (for a known issue), so I delayed that vax until later since I didn't want him going through any more pokes and prods that week. Can't recall if I just got lucky to be around to refuse it or if they came to me for consent first. Guessing it was the latter.
We did not have our son's circ done at the hospital (did it a week later as with the Jewish tradition), and it wasn't an issue at all. If you are very concerned, I've heard of people writing "no circ" or some such on every diaper the baby wears, so it can't be done inadvertently. As a pp mentioned, I think they need your signed consent, so it would be difficult to have it done without permission, but I guess there's always a case where things get mixed up, etc.
Agree with another pp about Duke - if you have any non-standard issues with baby, it's a very good place to be! My son had a known kidney issue, and it was great to be right there where the specialist could see him before discharge and examine test results, etc.
Honestly, I wouldn't be concerned about the circ at all. The way things are now with the AAP not recommending them being done routinely and Medicaid and some insurances not covering them like some years ago, they don't just do them on a regular basis like the heel stick that every baby gets.
They ask you if your want your boy circed or not unlike hearing and heel stick tests.

As a matter of fact, when your child does go out of the room for certain tests, I'd ask your husband or some other support person to witness the testing (if possible) . Many times, if your child has some special request not to do something that is the norm, they'll just go ahead and do things like they do for the majority of the babies. (Think ordering a burger without the mayo when they always come with the mayo. It's very possible that you'll get the mayo any way.)
Just curious, is there a reason folks don't want their newborns to get a Hep B vax?

In my experience, people can be weary about giving their newborns vaccines, especially after all of the autism hype. There are many types of vaccines...dead, live, toxoid...and they can have some pretty nasty side effects and can be scary when new parents are trying to decide what's best for their child. Childhhood vaccines can be a pretty hot topic. I would be upset if a hospital or any medical entity gave vaccines w/o my consent. That wasn't my experience at WakeMed or Rex...both were great about informing and consulting me before anything was done.

I've heard of a few. Not sure of the research behind them. I'm still researching that myself and from what I've seen thus far, will likely want all the vaccinations (maybe a few a bit delayed). But what I mainly don't want is for my baby to be taken from me and given anything without my knowledge or consent. My friend's baby was taken away for 2 hours after a c section, and given formula and a pacifier when she wanted to exclusively breastfeed and not use pacifiers. Stuff like that just worries me.

This was my line of thinking. I hadn't actually decided on what I wanted to do about the vaccine at the time. I would like to have made that decision on my own.
From the research I can recall is that the likelihood of an infant coming into contact with Hep B exposure is almost nil (IV drug users is one of the exposures I remember). I also read that giving the vaccine in the hospital is a way to make sure that the kid gets the vaccine before they go home because when they go home, it is less likely that the vaccine schedule will be initiated. (I may not be up to date with this, but this is what I remember.)
