Hi all. We moved to Raleigh a few weeks ago from Virginia. We like Preston but we are wondering if there are young families there? My kids are 4 years old and 10 months old..so looking for similar ages. My husband and I are both 34. We are just wondering if the neighborhood has kid or "grand kids", and how old the kids in the neighborhood generally are. Also, if someone knows the same general info for Prestonwood CC as well that would be helpful.
Thanks for all your help-this site has been very helpful!
We live in Preston Village and my parents live in Preston. You will find a very diverse age population throughout Preston. Preston Village seems to have a higher concentration of people with school age children, and fewer empty nesters. Preston has plenty of families with school age kids, but also has a nice mix of empty nesters. Prestonwood CC has plenty of families with kids, and quite a bit of family oriented programming. There is a kids' club that has track out programs, summer camp and parents' night out programs. There's a swim team, children's tennis and golf clinics, etc. And there are annual events like the Halloween festival and the camp out on the driving range.
We also live in Preston Village (and my parents live in Preston) and I agree with WorkingMomof2. We have many young kids on our street (including our own). Based on unscientific observation, the people living in Preston Village are, on average, younger than those living in Preston.
We really like the neighborhood. For what it's worth, residents of Preston Village appear to more right leaning (not us, though...) than other neighborhoods I've spent time in over the last 15 years in the area. Sometimes we feel like we don't "fit in". Our liberal friends have the same opinion of the neighborhood. This is not a major problem, just something worth noting.

Ok, that's just a little freaky - it's like reading my own post. How old are your kids? I have two girls -- 6 and 9.
