Is everyone around here putting their's back on now? Seems like it's warm enough to, but given that this is my first time (house) I didn't want to chance it. I don't really need to water yet, as my grass is still dormant but need to mark the sprinkler heads for the sod installer by April.

Additional question I thought I'd throw out, does anyone have Tifgrand Bermuda for their lawn? This is what the sod installer recommended since I already have common bermuda and it will blend in better when it eventually comes back. Also, does anyone know of a method/technique to locate where the cable wires are underground? Apparently I need to mark it too. TIA

There's really no rush to get your irrigation system going. Unless spring is exceptionally dry, you don't need to run your system until the temps are up significantly. I usually hook mine up sometime in April, but often don't run it much until some time in May (and even then probably not at 100%).

In NC, the Call Before You Dig number is 1-800-632-4949. I called them a while back before digging a trench in the yard, and they were out in a day or two, marking each underground cable with a different color paint.

Even if we get overnight freezing temps, it is highly doubtful that it will cause an issue with the system. Dipping down to 30* for 2-3 hours would probably not even freeze a puddle on the side of street.

Waaaay to early to start watering, in fact probably not very good for your lawn. I believe you shouldn't have to worry about any problems with freezing though.
