Some folks and I are looking to host a board gaming event somewhere in the Triangle next year and I am scoping out possible venues. We're hoping for 50-60 people, using around 30 6ft by 4ft tables, so the space would need to be big enough for this.
Does anyone have any suggestions for venues in the area that might be appropriate or other local resources that are useful for event planning? I have no idea where to start on this, so any advice anyone could impart would be gratefully received!
As cheap as possible, really. I'm trying to keep costs as low as possible but generally don't have a sense of how much rates are around here. Maybe $200 a day max?
If that sounds like a laughably small budget, I'm also interested to know! I have no prior experience in event planning, so any advice is welcome!
Any specific night of the week? Some places (like Motorco or Fullsteam) may let you use the place for free on a slow night, with the assumption that attendees will be buying some drinks from the bar.

$200 is really low, especially if you need to rent the tables as well. The tables themselves will cost that much.
Also look into The Trotter Building (definitely more expensive than the armory, but perhaps you can work something out) and The Cookery (front-of-house event space is opening some time in June, I hear).
Many hotels have meeting space available -- usually you can get the room for 'free' if you promise 'x' $$ in catering or you can just pay for the room fee. Tables have typically been included in events I've done -- you pay for audiovisual, but not usually the room setup.
I haven't done any event hosting at triangle hotels so cannot offer any suggestions other than the North Raleigh Hilton where I have gone to events.
