Hi everyone, I have a motorcycle permit due to expire in Oct. ( already renewd it the allowed 1X ) I don't have a bike to take the road test , I paid $120 to take a course at JCC but the instructors were %*?# so I did not go back to complete course... (I know) actually I want to ride a scooter OVER 50cc therefore legally need the motorcycle endorsement.
Any suggestions? Can't find a place that rents scooters (over 50cc) Thanks

No offense, but if you think the instructors at JCC were "%*?#" what do you think the DMV examiners are going to be like. Unless you can find a friend to lend you a bike, I think your only option will be to either buy a bike or take the course again at JCC or some other community college. If you complete the course, you won't have to take the riding test at DMV.

I think I heard somewhere that Ray Price Harley offers training, you might check there. I did the JCC course and found it was great - great instructors too. Maybe different from the ones you encountered.

How on earth could people who teach classes at JCC (I assume regularly) be of such low quality as to warrant not sticking with the class long enough to get it over with if all you're looking for is the endorsement?

The class is the best place to take the practical. Plenty of practice and people who want you to pass.

As a former MSF instructor, I agree 100%!

I thought I heard if you take these motorcycle classes, you are exempt from the DMV road test. I'm in a similar situation. I have a 50cc scooter and my learners permit expires in October.

I Guess I got two jerks, they were very sarcastic and not very understanding, she told me I had to have gloves and over the ankle footwear which I was never told about prior to registering for the course and had very little time to get equipment for the next morning, very sassy $&+%#......

It really has got to be you. Not always, of course. But, nobody meets so many difficult people unless they're looking for difficulty.

I would never say that if I didn't feel like you ought to be able to feel happy instead of miserable. Honest.

I really don't want to answer that ..

::stifles laugh::

OK, I will.

Mind, this was 1998 so the examiners have most likely changed and I can't say "take it here, it will be easy!" My MC road test was a piece of cake, made especially easy because it was done on a scooter. The examiner even suggested "you could make some $$ renting out your scooter to people who want to take the test. These guys who come in here on Goldwings and big Harleys always have trouble." So, it was that kind of an examiner (Mind - years and 10s of thousands of miles later, I've never had an accident or been stopped by a cop. So don't question my skills by the ease of passing the test)

To the OP, you might still have time to throw yourself on the mercy of a generous member of a scooter group. If you haven't been hanging around those boards, you should. From what I've discovered on other CD boards, suggesting groups is verboten. You can google 'scooter forums' or perhaps check the Meetup. You might - might - find someone who'll be willing to lend you a bike for a test.

Pretty much standard equipment for anyone learning to ride. You've been going on all along without that? If you're p|ssy because someone was sharp with you about that, maybe you aren't ready to be a rider
