We have welcomed a new family member this month, but she was in a big hurry to get here and came 3 months early. I want to find items for a "super premie"...less than 2 lb at birth. Can someone direct me to a shop in the Durham area that would have the teeny things needed for such a small infant?
I've already tried buy buy Baby and Toys R Us.....
I realize that while in the ICU her needs are met, but I would like to find the little hats and or socks in particular.
And I would love advice on how best to help the family....chores to offer, things for the mom, and dad...if you've "been there" and can think of the best things that were done for you, or the things that you wish someone had done, please share.

Try calling Smart Momma and seeing what they stock for premies: Baby Registry - Baby Gift Registry, Baby Gear, Baby Stores, New Baby Gifts, Baby Shower Gifts, Gift for Baby, Car Seats

Carter's also carries items for premies. There's one in Brier Creek.

Also keep in mind that being three months early, there's a good chance the baby will stay in the hospital for about three months. So the baby could be wearing newborn clothes by the time they are released!

Green Pea Baby in Apex has micro preemie (under 4lbs) outfits so it might be worth a call to see if they carry them in store.

GreenPea Baby Boutique - Gifts, Bedding, Furniture & Clothes

Also! Congratulations!

Figuring out a way to connect all the people that want to help with their needs (always changing) is key..
Facebook, emails, blog , mass texts...whatever works..Then when there is a need , the info gets to the people that want to help...

Having others take care of the home front, so parents can focus on baby is very helpful..

BRU sometimes has that stuff - you may need to ask them to order for you. No matter what, a micro preemie is going to swim in their clothes.

As far as chores for the parents - the best things that are not baby-handling unless you are asked....things like doing laundry or cleaning the house.

Well, they live out of town, so there isn't much I can do on that front.

My daughter was born a few weeks early and wore preemie clothes for the first month or two. I actually had the best luck finding preemie clothes (that were affordable) at Burlington Coat Factory.
