My husband and I are looking for any awesome recommendations for infant child care (she'll be 4 months old when I return to work). We're interested in in-home providers, daycare centers, pretty much anyone who comes highly recommended. We're in North Raleigh (almost Wake Forest and almost Rolesville), but I work in Wendell, so anywhere on this side of the triangle would be great.
I have been a nanny for 20 plus years. I'd highly recommend checking out care.com. I prefer in home care for newborns and infants, you should be able to find exactly what you are looking for there. Good luck!
So far I've been fairly unimpressed with the quality of applicants I have received on care.com. I wonder if I am not writing good enough copy for my job but it seems like few of them actually read the job in the first place.
We had nannies for the first 2.8 years of my daughter's life and it was very difficult to deal with. Eventually got fed up and took her to Goddard in Wake Forest and she loves it there. It's not cheap but they are the top facility around as far as we can tell. Of course, a nanny isn't cheap either and you have all the hassle of doing all the taxes, unemployment, etc.
I don't have kids and I have seen ads with those site mentioned but what came to mind is if colleges near have a job site where college kids are looking for employment. Possibly you could find a person who is majoring in early education? They may have more of a love and interest for kids. Then of course I would do my own background and reference check.
