Hi all,
Given the choice, would you choose an older home in a nice area of Holly Springs or a brand new house in Fuquay Varina? Assume homes are around the same price ~$260k and have similar size lots but the Holly Springs houses are over 10 years old and will require some updating.
Thanks!

Odds are that the 10 year old house is better built than the new construction at that price point.

Holly Springs, unless by some chance the commute is shorter from FV.

I love Holly Springs (and my 10+ year old house here, which I can vouch for being built WAY better than some of the new builds we saw in HS/FV) so that's my vote!

Not enough information to say. Fuquay is not that much further out than HS, so I'm surprised at the unanimous decision here. If the Fuquay home was superior, the extra drive could easily be worth the time. Of course this is depending on where you are working and where you plan to head on weekensd or nights after work

depends where it is in Fuquay, depends where you work and what your commute is and what you want your commute to be. Do you have kids and what age.

Default I tend to favor the new home

If everything else is equal, I prefer new versus older. The house is usually under warranty, has no need for repairs for many years, and can sometimes be altered to your preference before purchase. Plus, with interest rates where they are right now, your money can go towards paying off the mortgage rather than the mortgage and repairs/renovations.
