No article yet, but WRAL headline saying Xerox (ACS) is cutting 500 call center jobs at its Cary facilities by the middle of next month...ouch.

They just signed a lease extension there in January.

Wow. I didn't even know they had a call center here. That's rough.

Those types of call centers are very susceptible to the various contracts the company wins and loses. They must have lost some business.

There are a surprising number of call centers in the area and most are usually hiring just to fill turnover spots. An extra 500 plus people is bound to make things tough for a while in that sector, but I am guessing they will gradually be pulled in to various places around the triangle.

I wonder if they are trying to mostly go with virtual workers at home instead.
