The manual to my security system says Concord Express but I believe they were acquired some time by GE. I was never given the master code by the previous owner. I called her today and she doesn't know it. Can anyone recommend a good, local alarm company that might know how to find the code? I looked up a list of possible codes but I haven't tried them yet.
I made the mistake of testing my carbon monoxide detector without knowing the central alarm code. Things eventually got quiet in about 15 minutes but my spouse wasn't too happy. There is now a code on the alarm system that I can't clear. At least it stopped beeping!
There should be a way to do a "master reset." It might take an override code if you can locate who owns the company now. I would also try the non-emergency number for your local police department to see if they have any recommendations.
Google your alarm. There are forums full of people that for some reason like playing with those things. FWIW mine was set to 1-2-3-4 when the reset was done.

Thanks for the suggestion. I googled and I now have a list of five default alarm codes/passwords. I will try them tonight. There is a command to change the time. That seems like the "safest" way to try different codes without getting into trouble.
be wary a master reset will require a reprogram and for a novice like myself it will probably take a few days :-D Youtube also has a lot of great videos that demonstrate programming and resetting, which is better than reading in my case.
A company called Omni Security was recommended by my builder. They are quoting $350 to change the circuit board in the system. The codes I found on the internet didn't work. I think I'm going to bite the bullet and have Omni do the work. It means a half day off work, whoopee!!
Alarm Man seems to come up in recommendations in this forum regularly.
(I have no personal knowledge of them.)
Here's my over the phone experience with Alarm Man. I've done enough research to know that doing a "reset" or power off does not work with my system like it does with others. The woman I spoke with was nice and said it would be $95 to reset the system. She told me they wouldn't charge if they couldn't reset it. But she never talked about replacing any system boards which my research says might be necessary. I have an appointment with Omni Security scheduled for next Wednesday. I'll let you know how it goes.
Must be hard core if they can't reset it. The circuit boards for Honeywell Vista 15-20p are like 75 -100 bux with the battery, metal box and ac adapter online as a point of reference.
