Anyone aware of any custom home builders that share how much they charge per square foot? I understand it wouldn't be exact, because customization can cost differently depending on the customer. It's hard to get an answer out of anyone w/o going in and sitting down with them. If I say I want a custom home in cary or apex that ranges from 2,200 - 2,500 sqft for less than 300k they should have some type of ballpark figure. Bottom line, I don't want to waste their time if it's completely out of my price range. I would feel completely ridiculous to go in there and tell them all this stuff I want and they give me some ungodly amount I can't afford. Heck, if they say we price similar to Ashton Woods Homes or Lennar or other.........that would even be helpful.

I believe you can expect a custom builder to charge $150-200 per square foot, and the charge is higher for a small house. So, I think that if you want to pay $300,000, you are out of the price range.
Yes, I mean including the lot. But it still appears that custom home building a 2,200sqft home minimum with home + lot is out of the question. I will have to stick with new and owned homes for sale. That will work, but not knowing is what was killing me. And also not being able to get straight answers out of custom builders.

If you know of specific houses that you like, you can look up the info on the Wake County web site. The price paid, square footage and lot size are included in the Real Estate section.
That answer is suffice. I kinda looked at it like "well, if you have to ask", but I hated to assume. I no longer feel like I'm missing out on something that I may be able to afford.
