To some of you highly educated folks this might seem trivial, but to me it is important. Below you will find a very summarized history of my work experience and education. Based on this, what would you say is my best option for employment in the Cary, area would possibly be?
I'm a 38 year old married Hispanic female. Yes, I immigrated here some 21 years ago and am now a productive citizen of this fine country. So if that bothers you, no need to respond. I'm a law abiding citizen, have worked hard all my life, have never asked uncle Sam for a dime, have 2 wonderful kids, financially secure, and besides, generally I vote Republican
However, I still want to work and to me an honest days work for fair pay, is always appealing. I would prefer to work for the Wake County School District in or around Cary.
I purchased a home last March in Cary, NC for cash and wish to relocate next summer from Washington St.
Education, experience, very summarized:
Associates degree in Human Services from a small university. 30 credits away from Bachelor's.
Over 15 years hands on experience in working with those who experience developmental disabilities. Including an administrative position running a small assisted living home.
2 years experience as a special ed, teacher's assistant. (really enjoyed this position)
14 years as a flight attendant before that bum Osama, wrecked the airline industry and my job. I worked this job as a second career.
3 years as an Aerobics instructor. (okay this was more a hobby then a job, but I got a free gym membership.)
Bilingual, very outgoing, very energetic, excellent work references, physically and mentally fit.
So, where do I try and work in Cary? I'm not yet qualified to be a teacher (working on it), but would not mind a TA position in SPED? Do I have a chance? What advise would you give? Also, what major agencies in the area cater to those with special needs? Do they have respite and day habilitation programs?
Thanks!
