We were looking at homes last night and found one of interest in North Raleigh. The listing states that the home is approximately 5300 sq ft., yet the Wake County Tax records only shows around 4700 sq ft. that is finished. It does not look at thought the difference could be unpermited finished space as the third floor attic is unfinished and the other sections of the home look to be original to the home. How should I verify as to the actual number?
Secondly, I know that much of the market is extremely hot right now. However, I am wondering if that is true for more expensive homes. We are looking at homes between $750K to $1 million in North Raleigh and it seems that many of the homes have been on the market for a long period of time.
