Best area for young professionals? (Raleigh, Durham: apartment, low crime, chapel)

Hi everyone,

My fiance and I are curious about the area and are more than likely going to move there. We are doing our research (and soon doing a trip there to explore the city). If anyone can give me information that would be great.

What are the differences between Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Durham, etc...

We are looking specifically for a place:
- Where all the young professionals are (middle to upper middle class, we are both software engineers, mid to late 20's)
- Schools and/or family friendly places don't matter since we are far from having children
- Great restaurant and bar scene
- Not too crazy over the top college party scene
- Nice town homes (we're leaning into a town home as of now as opposed to apartment or single fam home)
- Low crime rate


Also if anyone knows any fun driving routes (we both have sport bikes) we'd like to know that too!

It'll really come down to where you find a job - Raleigh, Chapel Hill and Durham are so spread out that it can be up to a 30-45 min drive between places depending on where you're going.
