I've gone to the same stylist since we moved here 3 years ago. She's great with the cuts for my short pixie cut. However, after several deserved promotions and now a salon wide price bumb, her fee is $60 plus tip.

Time to look elsewhere. Im in Brier Creek, but have no problem driving 30 minutes to Raleigh, Cary, Durham or Morrisville. Any suggestions, preferably a short hair specialist?

Nobody? Or am I being unrealistic in thinking that $60 plus tip for a haircut is too high?

I love Lux on Creedmor road. My haircuts come out to $60 ($50+tip). My hair is long, but I see Tiffany and she is great. I imagine any of the stylists could help you though. Not sure if saving $10 is worth the switch for you? Good luck!

Joule Salon in Cary is reasonably priced. Nicole does my hair. My hair is short/medium. Price is $35.00.

I pay $60 (cut and style is $50, plus my tip $10). I love my hairdresser of 12 yrs and would pay more if I had to. Just saying if your stylist is really good and takes great care of you and your hair, I would keep him or her!

$60 for the haircut, $20 for the tip. Every four weeks. I'm still hoping somebody has another suggestion.

Have you ever tried an inexpensive chain like Great Clips? They give a senior discount, and I pay $11 for my short hair, plus I pay a tip. She isn't a fancy stylist, but I am happy with the result. Of course, I am on the coast, but they have salons in Durham.

I'm paying $50 for mine - $45 + $5 tip. I pay the stylist directly (she rents a chair) so she gets $50 for about a half hours work (maybe 40 minutes). I'd usually tip 20%, but $50 seems like a nice round number and she doesn't seem to mind.

Lady Jane's cuts hair for $10! I believe Fantastic Sams does as well. Heck, let me pull out my Flowbee and I'll cut your hair for $10.
