There are some photography courses through Wake Tech held at local high schools in Raleigh.

Go here: http://conted.waketech.edu/ and click "Course Schedules" and then search for "basic photography" or "photography" to get a list of related courses.

I started a Continuing Education course at the Wake Tech Northern Campus (6 minutes from the Brentwood subdivision ) to learn a software program, and I'm very impressed so far with the instructor and facilities.

I took "Elements of Digital Photography" through the Town of Cary Programs and Classes and thought it was quite good. More info here:

I am a photographer by trade, and I second the Wake Tech program. It is very good.
