Hello all. I am flying into Raleigh to do a final inspection for work. I will be inspecting a new Panera Bread off of Highway 70 and White Oak Road. My plane lands at 10:18 and I leave at 4:08, so not a ton of time. At one time, I was thinking of moving to Raleigh from Tampa, but I met my wife, and we moved to Knoxville. That being said, I am excited to see Raleigh, and hope I have enough time to drive around a bit before I head back to the airport. Any suggestions for lunch? I love pretty much all food, big on barbeque. Any thing I MUST see in a few hours?

Thanks for the time!
Wayne

Not sure if I have an answer, but I tried to google "glennwood and Whiteoak" and wasn't sure. Map is showing Inside the belt (near Anderson), but my recollection is out toward the airport, near Lynn.

Where is it located,
how long will your inspection take.

I'm thinking you can be headed to your inspection by 11 (no baggage claim, using Uber, not a rental car) or 11:30, however long it takes to inspect, then back at RDU by 3:15 absolute latest.

So it really dpends on:
Where
How long
rental car or not.

Knowing that, others may be able to recommend.

My favorite BBQ is in Pitsboro, but if you're needing to stay in the Raleigh area, which it sounds like you are, I'd go to the Pit or Clyde Cooper's in downtown Raleigh. Good BBQ, nice restaurants and you can see a little of downtown. Not too hard to get there from the area you'll be in (guessing Garner?) and a pretty easy drive to hop back on 40 to the airport.

I think OP will be in Garner at White Oak Road and hwy 70.

If you want BBQ I would suggest either Clyde Coopers or The Pit which are both in downtown Raleigh.

Smokey's on Chapel Hill Road. Your schedule will get you there after the lunch rush and you could almost walk to RDU from there.

I'd say go for Smokey's in Morrisville or Backyard BBQ Pit in Durham. Both are near the airport.

Unless your inspections only last a few minutes, I would honestly be shocked if you have time for a sit-down restaurant in downtown Raleigh during lunchtime.
