It's a little bit too long for Airbnb. I'm going to be spending my time in Downtown Durham so ideally would be there, but don't mind driving 10-15 minutes away to sleep at night, but I would prefer a good group of roommates if the place is further away.
Any ideas? I'm trying Facebook groups, Craigslist, and beginning to send hail mary emails/voicemail to real estate firms, agencies, or property managers to see if by chance there's a place they wouldn't mind filling for just the month of May...
Are you sure it's too long for Airbnb? I don't know how it is in Durham, but in other places you can rent through Airbnb and sometimes get a discount for a monthly rate (which is really astronomical anyway through Airbnb)
A lot of Duke grad students sublease their apartments for the summer while they are away for out of state internship. Their dates tend to be from mid May to August though. Call all the downtown apartments for available sublease. If you don't mind it to be further away (near East campus), DM me, I might be able to help.
My apartment building had a couple of furnished apartments available for rent for family that visited. The rate was pretty reasonable for a 2BR at least compared to a hotel. Might be worth calling to see if they would be willing to rent since I'm sure it sits vacant most of the time.
My building was managed by greystar, but they have a ton of buildings in the area.

This. Craigslist will be the place to look for that. If the student is desperate for at least someone to sublease part of it, they may be willing to let you stay for one month. (I subleased my room in college to someone for 2 out of the 3 summer months once)
