Who's got the best carpet cleaning system that I can rent for the day? Up North, I'd hit the local supermarket for a machine but I haven't seen those - not that I've been looking..

I'm in sudden need of one for tomorrow, Saturday morning. I'm in the Brier Creek area.

Thanks!
LAR

You're thinking of the Rug Doctor. They have them around here. Supermarkets, Lowes, etc.

To be honest they don't work very well - you're better off hiring the pro's even though it'll cost you a few more bucks.

We've used the ones you can rent from Harris Teeter. They work OK. Especially in a pinch.

Thanks for the responses. I'll explain a bit more...

I'm hoping to move out of our rented home in a couple of months. Part of the rental agreement requirements since we have a dog is to get the carpets professionally cleaned when we leave. While I'm not ready to do that just yet , my dog and my son who wasn't watching where he was walking have created an urgent need to do some pre-professional cleaning now. I hope that doesn't detract from what the pros can do later.

Just looking for the best DIY solution for now. Need to get at this in the morning :-(

Petsmart also rents machines, and I think both Lowes and Home Depot do also.

I've used the Rug Doctor machines found at just about any grocery store and was not impressed. I've also used the Bissell Big Green machines from Lowes and had much much better results. Try the Bissell if you have a Lowes near you.

You should just buy a Hoover SteamVac, they do a great job

Nope. And as said the supermarket machines aren't very good anyway.

If a spray can spot scrubber won't fix ya up... call in the pro.

Scrub with stain remover, use plenty of water to wash/rinse and use a shop vac to pull the liquid up afterwards. Basically the exact same thing a carpet cleaner machine does, but manually. I just did it this morning when my dog threw up.

If it's just mud it should just come up with water and a little liquid dish soap.
