I am having a small group for Thanksgiving and some are vegetarian so I only need a turkey breast. But i would like to find either an organic or locally farmed one (because Durham, that's why!! ). Does anyone know where I can find a non-factory-farmed turkey breast?

Didja check Whole Foods or the Durham Co-op? That's where I would start. If they don't have it try Weaver Street in Carrboro.

I see turkeys in the field near my house at least twice a week.

Amy at Blue Whistler Farm up in North Durham raises turkeys. I'm not sure if you can buy just the turkey breast, but its worth contacting her to check.

You keep the breast and Ill take the legs and wings. Those are the most delicious parts IMO.

The OP is looking specifically for organic or locally farmed.

That would be Whole Foods!

You can also get it already cooked for you:

I imagine the Durham Coop has them too. Definitely worth a look. http://durham.coop/thanksgiving-pre-orders/

Not everything from Whole Foods is organic or locally farmed.
