Where can I get a good "homemade" pie? I'm looking for a nice pecan pie to bring to work for a Tgiving pot luck on Tuesday! I want to be able to go in and buy 1 or 2 pies and spend no more than $30. Fresh and made that day...will be venturing out tomorrow. I'm in midtown Raleigh but am perfectly willing to travel. Places like Harris Teeter or Kroger are a last resort if I get no responses here.

People rave about MB's Tasty Pastries in Wake Forest. Haven't tried them yet but I want to!

Nancy Jo's Pies at the State Farmers Market are excellent. I take several pecan pies from there each year to Thankgiving and they get eaten up Nancy Jo's pies and cakes are in the enclosed building on the upper level.

There's a new pie restaurant in Durham that might do you. Scratch bakery is good also. Whole Foods?

I wouldn't expect to get 2 pies outside a grocery store, MAYBE a cafeteria, for $30 or less.
