Are you smarter than a 5th grader? Chapel Hill 10-year-old scores 5 on AP calculus exam - The Daily Tar Heel

I did not even show my teens this. They are not math kids.

Ha! Mine either - but I saw this article a week or two ago and I enjoyed his parents' approach to their son's learning. He thinks it's fun which is great.

Nice going! He has a great start and it's encouraging to read stories like this (all too often under emphasized) about talented young people.

What, he couldn't take the AP Calc BC exam? Slacker.

Good for him though.

Wow that's awesome. I did so bad in math in high school they wouldn't even let me take anything past geometry.

This is a great read.

I noticed in the article the University of North Carolina system gives college credit for passing an advanced placement exam, but does not allow high school credit. In South Carolina, both college credit and high school credit are awarded.

That’s awesome! I like the parents approach of not pressuring him too.

Well, I don't think the UNC system would be giving high school credit, would they? That seems like that would be up to the high school. Pretty impressive regardless!
