I kept my old car after it was declared total loss during an accident as it was still running. The tags on the car recently expired and I need to take it for an inspection to get the tags renewed. I now have a new car and no longer need the old car. What is the best option for me to dispose of the old car with expired tags? Surrender the plate to NC DMV and then contact Junkyard to get it hauled away? Please advise.

Not knowing for sure that’s what I would plan on doing first. Turn the plates in to DMV and get it squared away with them first.

Does the car run? Can it be fixed? Salvage cars are worth money if they can be repaired and it's worth doing. If not then call a scrapper.

I would try and donate it if it's in decent running order.
