Hi All, I live about two hours from Raleigh but want to move closer to be near the grandchildren. Have been watching for the last year, not seriously, but have seen prices sky rocket, and houses that I am looking for are normally sold the minute they hit the market.

The past year has given me insight as to what I hope to find. I would like to get in an active age restricted community that is friendly, warm, and talks to their neighbors. None of this snobby attitude and always wanting to one up the Jones’s! This is the time of life to sit back, relax, laugh, and enjoy every minute of the day!

I do not play golf so have no interest in joining a golf club to live in a community. I am single and can mix well with couples, It doesn’t bother me as it has been my life for too many years. I prefer a house with the master on the main floor. Price $300,000-$350;000. 2-3 bedrooms.

If you know or hear of anything, please let me know. TIA.

Find a good realtor.

Several 55+ communities are still in the build out stage, so you could buy new construction. Some may even have spec homes or be ready to sell off the models. In terms of resales, you'll find them semi frequently in California Preserves in Cary, and less frequently in Carolina Arbors in Brier Creek.

But if you're really serious about your search, you need a realtor.
