Hi folks,
We have a broken bathroom window - it is a double pane window with the outer glass of the window being broken. We ordered the glass with the panel of the same size. For the life of me (watched several YouTube videos and had a much more handy friend try to help me out as well), I cannot figure out how to add in the new "glass" into the existing window. I imagine being able to walk into a window place and for them to be able to do this within 10-15 minutes tops. Any recommendations for such places or people?
Call one of the professionals to do this. Assuming it's a modern double pane window assembly, it's not as simple as doing a glass replacement in an old single pane window. Modern windows are constructed in a different manner than the old fashion, glazing, glazing points and putty combination. Modern windows come in more of a cartridge (an assembly), with two panes, separated by either vacuum, or inert gas in a factory. A quick google search shows lots of residential glass companies in the Raleigh area that should be able to do this for you.
I’ve used Glass Doctor and have been very happy with their service, but I’ve also let them pick the necessary parts.
I can also recommend Glass Doctor. They fixed a window on the side of our house that was hit by a golf ball. They did the work pretty quickly and cleaned up all the broken glass.
