Can you not just whack the block with a hammer? I've never tried, but I've bought dry ice from HT before for Halloween effects and seems like that would work to break it up.

Looks like I'll need to do just that since I haven't located pellets nearby. (yes I've Googled for those following along)
What size block are you able to use in your food processor?
I only needed 2.5 lbs as I was loading two containers (Soda stream CO2 bottles) and needed a max of 14oz per (I overbought for waste) but there was plenty of room, but IIRC I did it in two stages.
I tried the rolling pin whacking thing but the bits didn't get small enough.
Airgas delivers pellets to labs at Duke, and I know they have multiple locations in the triangle. Don't know if they do retail, but you can give them a call to find out.
