I have some furniture that we moved with us and that doesn't fit in our new home. I was wondering if it is worth placing and ad in the local papers here? Back in CA those didn't get much action. I have tried Craigs list and only gotten some scammers. SO my question is where would be the best place to to put an ad for furniture etc in the Raleigh area? Thanks!

As your agent if she'll send out a mass email to her company. I do it all the time for my clients and its great! It helps those sell some things and it helps other buy some things.

I had good luck with 4042.com. Of course that is relevant to West Clayton, but I bet other people watch the site too. Depends where you live!

If the warmer weather was going to hold out a bit longer, I would say a good ole fashioned yard/garage sale might work

If you're anywhere close to Cary, the new website www.caryyardsales.com is going great for me.

There's also these too, but just as craigslist.org has been for you, these can be hit or miss...
www.wral.com (tv station, but they've got free classifieds)
www.raleighlist.org (broken link)
www.eastcarolina4sale.com
http://nc.usfreeads.com/
http://raleigh.backpage.com/

I highly recommend creating a free site with the pictures of the items & any details along with the prices and direct those reading the advert to that site. It'll cut down on a lot of the random e-mails and hopefully you'll have success in selling your furniture!

Good luck & welcome to NC!

I also have found that some subdivisions offer a local newsletter either on-line or on the web that you may be able to post an ad in?

There is a place in Cary called Consigning Design which sells used furniture. You might want to look into them selling it for you. They are located in the Waverly Shopping Center near Whole Foods.

Default go to Craigslist.com/

www.Craigslist.com/ is relatively new to Raleigh but is a great place to sell things, buy them, get an apartment, get a job, lots of things... I have used it up here in Baltimore to buy half the furniture in my apartment
