Could someone give me an accurate driving time (weekday work commute) from Sunset Lake Rd/Optimist Farm Rd to Davis Dr (around Cisco/Sony Ericsson). Also, which way do you travel. My husband did a test run this morning and it took 50 mins! He went Sunset Lake to 55.

Oh man. Don't get on 55.

Try going up Kildaire Farm to Ten-Ten, taking Ten-Ten into Apex, and then taking Salem St/Davis all the way up.

However, depending on when you plan to take this route, it could also take 50 minutes.

I can get from the Ten-Ten/Kildaire Farm Rd intersection to the Davis/Development Dr intersection in about 20-25 minutes. . . . . .but I leave my house at about 6:30am

Optimist Farm to Pierce Olive
Pierce Olive to Holly Springs
CROSS Holly Springs to Arthur Pierce
Arthur Pierce to Kildaire
Right on Kildaire
Left on Penny
Right on Ederlee
Left on Tryon/64
64 West to Davis

This route gives you a lot of flexibility-there's always an out if you see a backup. Lately Kildaire has been tough between Ten Ten and Penny, so you can always go left on Ten Ten and grab 1 North to 64 West.

Or

Sunset Lake to HS Rd turn left to Main turn right to 55 turn right to Salem street turn right. Salem street turns into Davis drive (veers off to the left before the railroad tracks) follow Davis Dr all the way out. I used to drive this route to take my DD to cheer and it would take me around 25 minutes from Sunset Ridge to there at 4:30-5Pm.

Depends on time of day. I can get from the corner of West Lake and Optimist Farm to the corner of Davis and High House in under 1/2 hour pretty much any time. I'd call it 35 to 40 minutes except if you left at 8AM.

It'll take a MINIMUM of another 10 minutes to get from the Davis/High House intersection to the Davis/Development Dr intersection.

If you leave during the rush hour time, yes. I find that leaving even 10 minutes earlier can make all the difference in the world and save you 20 minutes. Like others have suggested, explore and become familiar with the alternate routes as there are many ways to get to the same place.

Also, and it will be years before this becomes a reality, but I-540 will eventually be extended towards that area to provide access for those that live in that area. That will make a HUGE difference in a lot of different ways for that whole area.
